Although some of you may think that this is not legal, i would say "why not try something ill-legal today". There are lots of websites which provide to watch movies online, no need to sign-up and in few clicks you are into the movie arena.

DeleteI know you think its a progressive idea, the free sharing of creative works. The problem that you are not recognizing, is that you are not just "getting the man." I'm an actress and filmmaker. Not a household name. I just a received a .30 residual check from a television show I worked on. I'm late on my rent, my car payment, insurance, empty fridge. I also just directed my first feature film which just got picked up for worldwide distribution. We've been working on the project for 18 years, to get it off the ground. That's a lot of work. Do we not deserve to get paid? What about the crews and all the other people that work on these movies? Catering? Local equipment houses. Accountants. What do you think happens to these businesses when you steal movies? How do you think that effects the economy? We're not all Murdoch or Cruise. And I find this site scary at best. Please think it through.
ReplyDeleteWe're still all about supporting the artists and the creators, but how are these websites any different than getting the movie from the library or borrowing it from a friend? One person paid the original fee, and let's others view it. First sale doctrine. Oftentimes, you're able to rip from the library copy and then continue to share it which is how this material makes its way around. The difference is that this is not a hard copy to pass around which grants only one restricted view at a time. Digital copies should also be included in the first sale doctrine, but sadly, legally, it is not, and it restricts any possible further usage of these materials for educational, satricial, or other purposes. That bollywood site and the asian horror site might be the only places we can watch those foreign films. Just because I'm in a different country than that which created those films, doesn't mean I shouldn't have the right to view them and enjoy them. Some good indie and foreign flicks are hard to come by with proper region codes. The movie industry - Hollywood - makes budget from ticket sales, paraphernalia, soundtracks, and dvd sales. There is no record of lost revenue, it's just the DMCA pulling resources from a fear which might not even exist. People are more apt to support the little guy, like yourself. But are you a big budget filmmaker? Doesn't sound like it. You'll get your money, you're not affected by these hosting sites. At the same time, the only way you are going to get your material off the ground and find support is to allow for it to become digital content and for people to download it, try it, then buy it. How do you think little underground indie rock groups get their start? They rip cds, tell people to upload them, share them.. Music is a community, and the money comes from sharing. People will still buy this material if it's good. These websites don't act as replacements to the real thing. The quality is usually bad, they might be cams or screeners with disclaimer subtitles. That's not what you're going to burn to a hard copy and then place on your shelf.

It's funny that you say you're behind on all of your bills... So am I genius. Oh yeah, and I'm a part time musician. Part time means its fun, Most of the money I make from music goes into new equipment, the studio, or a trip to a new venue. That's why I have a real job, ya know, one with 40 hours a week and you work hard, instead of complaining about people on the internet watching you play house. Real musicians, like real actors don't have to make money to keep doing what they love, besides the only thing it is, is a passionate hobby. DeleteWhether you're a household name or not, a 30c residual check for your work on a tv series just shows that you either didn't have good representation or weren't on the series for very long. If you are, in fact, in the entertainment industry as an actor you are [or should be] very well aware that it is, in short, everyone BUT the actors who make the bulk of the money when it comes to rebroadcast or promotion of the media. If John Schneider & Tom Wopat could figure that out 30 years ago, anyone can. So, please, don't moan about your lack of money coming in when something you worked on shows up on YouTube or another site like it because you weren't going to get any more than that 30c to begin with!

Please let me try to explain more in depth from my perspective; each sale, whether from a small indie, or a blockbuster, trickles down to the little guy. And believe me, there are many more little guys than head honchos who rely on sales in order to feed themselves, their families. I've performed in some big budget movies. I get residuals about every three months from those pictures based on a percentage of sales. If you share the movie, rather than rent or buy it, I do not get paid for the work I've done. (I've trained my whole life, starting as a child, in order to entertain you.) I live here in Los Angeles, which is where the majority of the work is, and it is VERY expensive. I depend on those checks in order to continue. A lot of the people, writers, indie producers, supporting actors, etc. that you see in these movies, who you might frequently recognize, live in small apartments and are living from paycheck to paycheck, delivering pizza's on the side (though they would never admit to it.) Whether you agree with that life choice or not, these people do depend on the sale of creative works. It saddens me to see this sort of "hipster" righteousness of "you put it out there and now its mine" mentality coming from the same people who probably consider themselves worldly, open minded and progressive. It's a toxic self delusional, self fulfilling mindset that is hurting artists and small businesses. No way around it. It's a rapidly growing fire, killing the forests. Again, just saying the "too bad for you technology is changing... I take what I want" issue needs to be more deeply rethought by the progressives amongst you. Especially not made to look cool. It's not. :(

For every billion dollars the big wigs make you probably make no more than $20 I'm sure everyone who torrents and rips movies (and all the other free ways you can get them) would mostly gladly pay $1 directly to the little guys for a movie instead of paying $10 for it legally and only a few cents going to the little guys, but scene as though noone is going to set up a system that would do that it's no going to happen,

If you would rather see evidence in numbers, then there are examples of it all over the internet. I would like to point your attention, as well as anyone with the same outlook on sites of this type, to Humble Indie Bundle. Humblebundle.com is where you can go to buy a bundle of indie games. Now, I know that games are not going to be exactly the same as movies or music, but this is just the start. When you buy a bundle ,which is posted for a few weeks then changed a few weeks after, you decide how much you pay. You can pay anywhere from 1 cent to $100,000 dollars, or more! The last bundle before the most recent one released made over $4,000,000 dollars in a matter of weeks. And these aren't big developers or household names, but they're good games. This can be done for movies, music, or practically anything, if you just have the right resources. Where do you find these resources? The internet... And the Hippies. So, Please, check it out.
I suppose my point is that if you aren't making rent from movies in your current situation, then comments like these won't help; That you spend your time on the vast internet looking for a solution or making one instead of complaining to (hippies) those trying. Alternatively, the movie industry isn't the only one having problems, but that's the one you seem to hear whining about it most. Hmmm...
not sure if you still visit this site or not "me" but just like others have stated, it all boils down to this "if you have a crap product, you won't make money" it's simple. More than 1 Million people illegally downloaded the first episode of Game of Thrones season 3 in less than 24 hours ! Imagine the totals once the week ended. One of the directors, David Petrarca made some really valid points about why they aren't sending the FBI to track their pirated files and also stated that "It's great. It really helps the show's cultural buzz..." He also mentioned in a later interview that the pirating of season 1 led to even more pirating in season 2 and a 75% increase in dvd sales for season 2. You know why those sales increased? Because it's a genuinely great show. Almost everyone who pirated it, paid for it because after "trying" it, they realized they needed to support the cast & directors so they can get more seasons out of it. If your movie or whatever it was you did wasn't crap you would've seen profit, period. I doubt any of the mentioned sites even heard of your movie to illegally stream it.

DeleteI like this, the difference with the other sites that I have used is that the movies are organized in categories, so when I am in the mood for some type of movie I just go to the category and choose.

ReplyDeleteEvery link same shit, search for movie, click play/ download takes you to some other website that asks for credit card details
except for movie planet, cant do anything until you download some shit program that downloads a few others you didnt ask for, then when you finally work out how to use it, every link fails, nothing downloads
They never failed me. All the links worked very well. But even if they didn't we have now updated the list and added some new websites as well.

the quality of the video and sound is very poor on all these sites and many others just like them and they all have a very limited number of movies, don't waste your time with any of these sites and like any normal person just download them for free from a file sharing site or torrent
